Anita V. Steinkamp
Anita V. Steinkamp, age 92, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 1900 Luxury Lane, died on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on October 2, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Adam and Clara (Jansen) Koch. She married Lawrence F. Steinkamp Sr. on October 28, 1944 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1997. Anita was the head cook at Quincy Notre Dame from the time the new Christian Brothers School was opened in 1959 until her retirement in 1997. Anita was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She loved cooking, sharing recipes and cross-stitching.
She is survived by:
TWO SONS: Wayne Steinkamp of Quincy; Terry ‘Pete’ Steinkamp also of Quincy
GRANDCHILDREN: Laura (Scott) Blair, David (Mandy) Steinkamp, Sarah (Dan) Bergthold, Christian Biswell, Angela (Butch) Woosley, Adam (Heidi) Steinkamp, Jason (Katie) Steinkamp, Neely (Sean) Blickhan, Mathew Steinkamp, Justin (Jada Jackson) Steinkamp, Jennifer (Matt) Peters, Dan Smith, Ray (Jia Jia) Snyder, and Sherrie (Ron) Slusher.
Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
DAUGHTERS IN LAW: Naomi Steinkamp and Trudy (Tim) Carroll.
Also surviving are a sister: Sister Barbara Rose, CPPS, brother-in -law: Ray Thompson and a sister-in-law: Kay Koch.
In addition to her husband, Anita was also preceded in death by: her parents, her step-mother Cora Koch who helped to raise her, 3 children: Lawrence Steinkamp, Daniel Steinkamp, and Diane Steinkamp, 2 grandchildren: Eric and Krista Steinkamp, and five siblings: Alice (John) Wietholder, Ruth Koch, Barbara Thompson, Ron Koch, Margie (George) Libertyn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Lawrence and Anita Steinkamp Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame or Blessed Sacrament Church.

I am so sorry for your loss. Anita was a pillar of strength and inspiration for us all. I so much looked forward to seeing each and every day at QND for lunch. She made sure I was fed very well! She ran a wonderful kitchen and was a legend at QND. More than that she supported the entire school and loved her family ABOVE ALL ELSE. I will pray that God gives all of you the strength you need for the days ahead and that HE fills your heart and mind with only the wonderful memories you shared with her. God Bless.
