Andrew “Larry” Meyer

Andrew Lawrence “Larry” Meyer, age 69 of 2830 Payson Heights, died on Thursday, December 3, 2009 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on February 28, 1940 in Quincy, the son of Andrew Francis and Marie Helen (Schreacke) Meyer. Larry married Sharon Kathleen Peters on October 14, 1961 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Meyer was a Carpenter for Holzgrafe Construction Company from 1959 until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement from Holzgrafe he worked at Maintenance Plus. Larry was a 1958 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He was an active member of the Church of St. Peter where he served as an usher and volunteered for the funeral dinners. Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Cursillo Men Prayer Group, and the Western Catholic Union. Larry was also an avid gardener who greatly enjoyed sharing what he produced with family and friends. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Sharon, Larry is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Leanne Marie Meyer-Smith and her husband Kyle of Naperville, IL: Kevin Michael Meyer and his wife JoAnn of Choudrant, LA; Nicholas John Meyer and his wife Michelle of St. Peter, MO; and Gregory Lawrence Meyer and his significant other Lela Henricksen both of Quincy.
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: Rachel, Audrey and Lydia Smith; Madison and Morgan Meyer; Tyler, Owen and Alex Meyer and Connor and Preston Meyer.
ONE SISTER: Shari Ellen Gindra and her husband Jerry of St. Louis, MO along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 12:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 1:00 in the Church of the St. Peter. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home with a parish prayer service at 5:00. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter Computer Lab or the Sharon Waterkotte Scholarship Fund at Quincy Notre Dame High School.

    My sincere sympathy to the family with the died of your brother and father especially to Shari. He will be long remebered for the love he shared with friends and the family. My prayers will be with you during this time of lost.
