Amy E. Waterkotte
Amy E. Waterkotte, age 49, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in St. Vincent’s Home. She was born on March 15, 1969 in Quincy the daughter of James & Sharon (Schildt) Waterkotte. She was a 1987 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Amy was a Medical Billing Specialist most recently working at Quincy Medical Group.
During her free time Amy loved to travel, visit auctions and spend time with her many friends. Especially important to Amy was spending time with her family specifically her nieces and nephew. Most recently her time was spent fighting cancer with dignity strength and a positive attitude that impacted those she interacted with. She also continued her daily activities including her volunteer work at the Horizon Food Bank.

SIBLINGS: Erik and his wife Emmy of Cincinnati, OH; Todd Waterkotte of Phoenix, AZ; and Katie Vitale of Beardstown, IL
NIECES AND NEPHEWS: TJ Waterkotte, Anna Waterkotte, Isabella Vitale, Gabriella Vitale and Hayley Cox.
AUNTS & UNCLES: Jerry Waterkotte, Janet Waterkotte, and Carol Harvey and her husband Don
Numerous cousins and other relatives also survive.
Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon, her grandparents, an uncle John Waterkotte, and her cousin Jason Harvey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Catholic Elementary School Foundation (Q.C.E.S.) for a Scholarship to be established in Amy’s name, the Sharon Waterkotte Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame, St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Blessing Cancer Center. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Amy. While it is never easy to lose a loved one, it is much harder to watch them suffer. At least you can look forward to being reunited in Heaven for Eternity. I coached Amy in Volleyball and Basketball and one thing I always admired about her is that she always gave it her all. I am so saddened. Amy was a freshman my first year of teaching at QND. The Class of ’87 will always be a part of my heart. Like all of you, she was kind, caring, made the best of friends, and loved her family above all else. I will pray that God graces you with only the best memories of the time you spent with your daughter and sister. Rest in peace, Amy.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr. Waterkotte, and all of Amy’s family. I was a good friend of Amy’s when we were both working at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Amy’s kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor, are the things that I remember the most. I know she will be missed, but I am so thankful that she no longer has to suffer.
