Alvena Mae Clark

Alvena Mae Clark, age 86, of North Adams Home, formerly of 1016 North 17th Street, died on September 24, 2010 in the home. She was born on May 18, 1924 in Loraine, Illinois the daughter of John L. & Gertie (Wartick) Hardy. She married Warren Clark on March 9, 1945 in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2000.

Alvena worked in the Print Shop Department at St. Mary’s Hospital, retiring in April 1986. She attended Washington School, Loraine & LaPrairie High Schools. Alvena was a graduate of Gem City Business College. Along with her husband, Alvena enjoyed camping with family and friends where they enjoyed campfires and bingo. Alvena also loved and was very skilled at crocheting.

Survivors include FOUR CHILDREN: John Clark and his wife Janet of Maywood, MO, Joyce Donley and her husband James E. of Liberty; Judy Garthaus and her husband Frank of Decatur; and Jo Ann Seybold of Quincy. NINE GRANDCHILDREN: Vicki Cross and her husband Rob, Jim Donley and his wife Danelle, Julie Niemerg and her husband Mark, Michele Sutton, Mike Garthaus and his wife Leslie, Chuck Garthaus and his fiance Sherrie Martin, Steve Garthaus, Melody Seybold, and Paul Seybold.
A BROTHER: John H. Hardy and his wife Vivian
A SISTER: Lillie Wilcox and her husband Bill along with numerous great-grandchildren, Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Alvena was also preceded in death by: her parents, a grandchild Christina Marie Clark and two Brothers Orlo and Adrin Hardy.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 1:30 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. George Tomko. Interment in Quncy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

    we are very sorry for your loss. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers. I enjoyed getting to know Alvena and your family during her stay at north adams. I especially enjoyed her big smile when Brad told me to call her grandma clark she would say now who told you to call me that and when i told her. i know she remember those boys (brad and jim).
