Alta L. Hildebrand, age 92, of Quincy died on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in her home. She was born on February 8, 1930 in Quincy, the daughter of August J. and Clara (Talken) Mast. Alta married James E. Hildebrand on August 22, 1951 in St. John Catholic Church, Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1995.

Alta was a 1948 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. She first worked at Tenk Hardware and then was employed in the business office at St. Mary Hospital, retiring in 1978.

She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for forty years and currently a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Alta was past president and treasurer of St. Joseph altar society and very active in the church.

Alta enjoyed flowers and gardening. She also liked to play cards, dancing and making pies.

Alta is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Holtschlag, and numerous nieces and nephews including Joe (Penny) Holtschlag and Mark (Karen) Holtschlag.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Richard, Carl, Virgil Mast and brother Norbert Mast in infancy, Irene Klauser, Rita (Paul) Blickhan and Sr. Elizabeth Mast and brother-in-law Bob Holtschlag.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church from 11:00 AM to the time of the services. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
