Allen attended school through the Quincy Public School System at Franklin, Jackson and Washington Schools in the Special Education Program. He graduated in 1980 from Quincy Junior High School. He was also an active participant in the Special Olympics Program. In later years, Allen worked at Hy-Vee on Harrison in the deli department and at Transitions.

Allen loved riding his bike all over Quincy visiting with friends and meeting new people. He enjoyed swimming in the family pool, working beside his mother in the yard, and spending time at the family camp, Lake of the Oaks near Canton, MO. Camp was one of his favorite places to be. He loved floating in the lake for hours, laying on the beach watching the kids play and diving for clams. One of his favorite accomplishments was riding his bike with his brother Marty 37 miles to camp. Allen also loved singing and dancing to Elvis songs. He loved motorcycles and eating ice cream with one favorite spoon.
Allen was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He loved attending Mass there every Sunday. You would find him sitting at the end of a pew so he could high-five everyone as they came back from communion.
Allen was an inspiration to many people. He was one of the kindest and most selfless people you could ever meet. He meant so much to his family and will be greatly missed, but we know Allen is already an angel because of how he lived his life on earth.
There is no one quite like Allen and if you were lucky enough to have known him, you would know how truly special he was. He is one of God’s greatest gifts to us all.

I haven’t been online for quite a while, so I am just learning of Allen’s passing. He was such a sweet guy. We met him in 1990 when we moved to Klondike Road. He would ride his bike and stop to visit if we were outside. My deepest sympathy to Allen’s family.
Allen was such a sweet and happy person. He always brightened our days at Blessed Sacrament.
He shared his love and joy so freely with anyone willing to accept it. He is an inspiration to us all. He will be missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
Rita and extended family,
Such a sweetheart!!
We spent many hours of many, many days visiting on my driveway when we lived on St. Charles Street. Yes indeed, he would stop by while riding his bike, when the kids and I were in the yard playing, working, or riding their own bikes.
I always enjoyed our visits.
He didn’t even realize that he was helping me by giving me his time, his smile, and his calming presence.
I’m sure the Lord met him…
“Well done my good and faithful servant!”
You all are in our prayers,
Paula, Scott, Trisha, Ryan, Jonathon, and Shannon Thoele

Terry Rhonda & family we are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you !
I was so saddened to hear of your family loss. I am sure I saw Allen literally 1000’s of times during my time in Quincy. He was riding his bike, talking to me at HyVee, or walking on S 12th street. He was ALWAYS so kind and soft-spoken. Each time I saw him, whether we spoke, or just waved, his presence brought a smile to my face. I will pray that God brings you strength in the days ahead and that HE will fill your hearts and minds with all the great memories you created with Allen. God Bless.
What a great man! Allen was, and will always be, a blessing to all who knew him. His kind heart would always clarify what should be important in our lives. We strive to live like Jesus. After each visit with Allen, I would also strive to live like Allen. His heart and personality was truly a reflection of Christ. Well done Allen!
