Alice Mary Demers
Alice Mary Demers, age 86, of 2938 Bluff Ridge Dr., Quincy, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on August 22, 1926 in Quincy, a daughter of Alois G. & Gertrude M. (Koetters) Belker. She married Louis J. Demers on October 22, 1946 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He survives.
Alice attended St. Francis Grade School and was a 1944 graduate of Notre Dame High School. She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1944 – 1964. For her entire married life she was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.
She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Francis and past member of St. Francis Home & School Association, Quincy Notre Dame Band Parents Association and Telephone Company Gabbers. She loved attending musical performances and enjoyed family trips, boating and camping.
In addition to her husband, Louie, she is survived by a daughter, Mary A. Demers of Quincy; a brother George (Betty) Belker of Quincy; and sisters, Carlene Scholl of LaCanada, CA, Mary Agnes “Liz” (Bill) Czervinske of San Antonio, TX, and Barbara (Jim) McCaughey of Davenport, IA. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Hummelsheim, her husband Roy Hummelsheim, Sr. and a brother-in-law Bill Scholl.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Tom Shaughnessy, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Francis School or Meals Plus for Seniors.

Dear Mary and Louie, I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Demers passing. I know how much you took care of her especially during these past difficult times. She was a wonderful mom and wife and I know you gave her much comfort.
