Alice Brown

Alice Brown, age 67, of the Bradford Villa, formerly of 2107 Rancho Blvd, died on Sunday August 21, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1944 in Quincy, the daughter of Harlan & Mary Catherine (Bird) Harig.

Alice worked for Motorola for 10 years, and then on the Board Assembly at Harris, Inc. for 21 years. She had also worked at Teknar in St. Louis and Bradford Villa. She was a graduate of St. Francis Grade School and Quincy Notre Dame High School. Alice was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She was involved with Birthright, the Relay for Life, the Susan Koman Race for the Cure and the Cursillo movement. Alice enjoyed travel, playing solitaire and eating out and visiting with her co-workers and friends. She was a avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Alice’s greatest enjoyment however, was spending time with her family and her two dogs, Marty and Molly.

She is survived by:
FIVE SIBLINGS: Marylan Harig of Quincy; John Harig of Lauderdale, MS; Donna Zanger and her husband Lawrence of Quincy, Nancy Martin of Quincy, and Diane Kattelman and her husband Anthony of Cedar Hill, MO.
NINETEEN NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND 45 GREAT-NIECES AND GREAT-NEPHEWS also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Mary Harig.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Prayer service at 5:00. Memorials may be made to the QND Girls Athletics, Susan Komen Cancer Research, St. Francis School or to the Quincy Humane Society.

    I send my condolences to Alice’s family & friends. I was a classmate of Alice’s at ND and have followed her valiant struggle, but know she is finally without pain & resting peacefully with God.

    I am Loretta Wardlow’s oldest daughter Ellen and had the pleasure to meet Alice at her Birthday party. I am so sorry to hear about her passing and my sympathy goes out to all of her family and friends.
