Albert P. Angerer

Albert P. Angerer, age 87, of 2019 South 40th, Quincy, died on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in his home. He was born on February 13, 1930 in Iowa City, IA the son of Paul J. & Ruthe (Maxson) Angerer. He married Shirley Vogel in Virginia in 1951. Shirley preceded him in death in 2000. He later married Doris Berter on January 12, 2002 in Quincy. She survives. Albert was a United States Postal Inspector for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Albert was also a member of the Illinois Police Association and the American Legion in West Liberty, Iowa. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors.

In addition to his wife Doris, Albert is also survived by:
ONE SON: David Angerer and his wife Debby of Jackson, TN.
THREE DAUGHTERS: Gail Covalsky of Quincy; Catherine Angerer and her significant other John Pieger of Rockford, IL; and Mary Diaz of Arlington Heights, IL.
FOUR STEP-CHILDREN: Marie and her husband Lee John of Quincy; Edwin Berter of Missouri; Diane Schwartz and her husband John of New York, and Michael Berter and his wife Kathie.
He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Shirley, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment will take place on Monday, January 15, 2018 at noon in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in West Liberty, IA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church.

    Doris and family, I am so very sorry not to be able to be with you today due to the weather, but you are in my prayers. He was such a special man.
