A. Romaine Stroot
A. Romaine Stroot, age 91, of 1305 South 36th, died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 in her home. She was born on September 17, 1925 in Wakefield, Nebraska the daughter of Charles Ruben and Mabel (Huseman) Lindsey. She married Harold R. Stroot on April 22, 1950 in St. Peter Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2013.
Mrs. Stroot attended Melrose Grade School and graduated from Quincy High School. Later she attended Gem City Business College. Romaine worked at Heckenkamp Florist. She loved her orchids and the challenge to keep them growing. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
SIX CHILDREN: Jeff Stroot and his wife Molly; John Stroot and his wife Tanna; Dan Stroot and his wife Lori and Ellen Kathmann all of Quincy; Sarah Brinkmeyer and her husband Steve of Bartlett, Tennessee and Myra Troutwine and her husband Brent of Fairway Kansas.
SEVENTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Samuel Stroot and his wife Isabel, Allison Stroot, Garrett Stroot and his wife Michelle, Hannah Stroot, David Stroot and his wife Ashley, Emily Stroot, Charles Stroot, Jordan Stroot and his wife Jill, Lindsey Stroot, Tyler Stroot and his wife Jayme, Christine Kathmann, Rachel Botson and her husband John, Paul Kathmann and his wife Sarah, Matthew Brinkmeyer and his wife Allison, Neil Brinkmeyer, Gunnar Troutwine and Lars Troutwine.
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister: Geraldine Bennett and a son-in-law: Steve Kathman.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation or to the Unity Point Hospice.
