A. Ralph Timpe
A. Ralph Timpe, 85, of Quincy, died at 12:37 a.m. Thursday (May 14, 2015) in Blessing Hospital.
He was born on March 24, 1930, in Quincy, a son of William and Myrtle (Bohne) Timpe. He married Mary L. Poe on September 30, 1950 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2010.
Ralph was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish. He participated in the Cursillo movement in the Quincy area.
Ralph was proud of his service in the Marine Corp. and enjoyed participating in the Marine Corp. League as a Devil Dog. He was selected as the Marine of the Year in June of 2007. Ralph received national recognition from the Chapel of Four Chaplains in 2009. Ralph also volunteered for Quincy Spirit. He loved Jazz Music and often reminisced about his days playing in a band. He appreciated the game of golf and was a former member of Cedar Crest Country Club. The greatest joy in his life, though, was spending time with his beloved wife, Mary.
He is survived by five children, Charlotte Miller of Jefferson City, MO, Sandy Kain and her husband, Kevin, of American Canyon, California, Helen Zimmerman and her husband, Wayne, of Quincy, Ralph G. Timpe and his wife, Linda, of Quincy, and John Timpe and his wife, Debbie, of Glenview;
nine grandchildren Kenneth Miller III and his wife Deanne, Justin Miller and his wife Beth, Joseph Miller, Matthew Kain, Diane Zimmerman, Steven Zimmerman and his wife, Heather, John Timpe II, Michael Timpe and Jessica Timpe; great-grandchildren Natalie Zimmerman and Evelyn Zimmerman, Aubrie Miller, James Miller and Henry Miller;
two sisters, Anna Mae Timpe, Charlotte Buckman and husband, Ernie, of Quincy and sister-in-law Mary Lou Timpe of Quincy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; three children in infancy, Michael, Judith and Mary. His brothers Virgil, Bob, Jerry and sister Gwen also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church celebrated by Monsignor Mike Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the Marine Corps Military Funeral Detail. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m.
