Buena B. Green Brooks went home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 4:45 P.M. at Sunset Home 418 Washington.

She was born on October 18, 1928, to Samuel Green and Bessie (Payne) Green. She married Charles E. Brooks on May 12, 1945, in Quincy. They shared 59 years together. Buena attended Quincy Public Schools and was a housewife.

She worked for the Hinton family and has been a steady part of their lives for 65 years. She also worked for the Quincy Public Schools until retirement.

Buena was a devoted long-time member of Bethel AME Church and took part in church life for many years.

She was even a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Buena embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm, and treasured being part of her community. She found joy in shopping, traveling, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Some of her fondest adventures were the caravan trips she shared across the country with Chuck and those close to them.

Buena leaves behind a cousin, Naome Hood, along with many beloved nephews and nieces who will cherish her memory.

In addition to her husband, Buena was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Samuel and Howard Green, and two sisters Mildred and Ella.

Graveside services will be held October 30, 2026, at Quincy Memorial Park at 1:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation or repast.
