Ronald Edward Kelly, age 78, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Blessing Hospital. Ron was born on August 22, 1948, the son of Edward and Norma (Coltelli) Kelly in Boonton, NJ. He first married Patti Goeken on March 4, 1976, in Morton, IL, she preceded him in death. Ron married Jill Mason on July 10, 2015, in Quincy, and she survives.

He was a Class of 1966 graduate of Morris Catholic in Denville, NJ. He then received his bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in 1971. He was an avid Bradley Basketball fan.

Ron was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he served as the head usher and was a member of the Finance Council and the liturgy committee.

In 2015, Ron retired from a career in the banking industry. He was first employed at Peoria Savings and Loan until he moved to Quincy in 1982 and was employed at State Street Bank. He then moved onto First Federal Bank of Quincy in 1986, which is now Mercantile Bank. He was a bank Vice President and Loan Officer.

Ron had a lifelong love of sports, both as a participant and a fan. He enjoyed rooting for the New York Mets and New York Giants. He was also a fan of Quincy High School Boys Basketball where he worked as one of the scoreboard operators for 20 years. Golf was one of Ron’s greatest passions. He spent many years playing several times a week with friends at Westview Golf Course. One of his proudest golf achievements was recording a hole-in-one during the annual city tournament. As a current member of Spring Lake Country Club, Ron continued to play golf regularly.

He was involved in multiple community boards and organizations including Chaddock, CYO, Chamber of Commerce, and was a Rotary Club member.

Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Every Tuesday morning, he could be found sharing coffee and conversation with friends at their regular table at Krazy Cakes and Tuesday evenings were often spent enjoying dinner and good company at Spring Lake Country Club. Ron also loved to travel. Together, he and Jill visited Hawaii, Alaska, Hilton Head, and many other travel destinations.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children: Kim (Travis) Dinkheller, Erin Kurk, and Brianne (Nathan) Fritts.

Grandchildren: Cooper Dinkheller; Colin and Camryn Kurk; Tanner, Camden, and Parker Fritts.

Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rev. Daniel Kelly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 9:30 am at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Chaddock. Service arrangements are with the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
