Steven K. Duesterhaus
Steven K. Duesterhaus, age 69, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 1, 1956 in Quincy the son of Don and Mary Lou (Kenady) Duesterhaus. He was a 1974 graduate of Quincy High School. He married Glori Connell on July 29, 1978. She survives.
Steven retired from the Illinois Veterans Home where he worked in the powerhouse. Steven was formerly a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Steven was proud of his 30 year service as an 2nd Ward Alderman on the Quincy City Council. He had many varied interests, hobbies and collections. Steven was a lifelong reader and frequent patron of the Quincy Public Library. Steven had many skills and an uncanny ability to build or fix most anything. His greatest joy and love in his life was his family. He also loved and leaves behind two canine companions, ‘Frankie’ and ‘Murphy’ and many others who came before them.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Megan Duesterhaus and her husband James AuBuchon and Eric Duesterhaus and his wife Elizabeth all of Quincy and his foreign exchange son Santiago Molina and his wife July Granada of Colombia, South America.
GRANDCHILDREN: Elinor AuBuchon, Lydia Duesterhaus and Sofia Molina.
SIBLINGS: Joseph A. Duesterhaus and his wife, Laura, Paul M. Duesterhaus and his wife, Mary Ann, Mary Beth Duesterhaus, Gregory L. Duesterhaus, Jonathan L. Duesterhaus and his wife, Susan, Kevin F. Duesterhaus and his wife, Sandy, Timothy J. Duesterhaus and his wife, Teresa, and Todd W. Duesterhaus and his wife, Taffy.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his parents, Steven was also preceded in death by a brother Mark Duesterhaus and his wife, Denise.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to QUANADA or to the Quincy Humane Society. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
