Timothy “Tim” Wayne Caldwell

Timothy “Tim” Wayne Caldwell, age 79, of Quincy, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Sunset Home. He was born on July 5, 1946, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Clarence “Babe” and Sara (Schakel) Caldwell.

Tim proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966 and was stationed in Kitzingen, West Germany. After his military service, he attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, graduating in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He pursued graduate studies in Urban Planning before shifting career paths and joining the Red Wing Shoe Company. Tim was part-owner of the Red Wing Shoe store in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and in 1981 moved to Quincy and became the owner and operator of the Quincy Red Wing Shoe Store, which he ran until his retirement in 2015.

Tim had a curious mind and an insatiable love of learning. He was a devoted and voracious reader, especially drawn to books about World War II and politics. A lifelong Democrat, he was never shy about sharing his opinions. He loved attending NASCAR races and was an enthusiastic and devoted supporter of Iowa Hawkeye sports, especially football.

Tim is survived by his daughter, Bridget Caldwell of Nashville, TN; his brothers Joel Caldwell (Jan), Scott Caldwell (Jeralene), and Kirk Caldwell (Alan Pearman); as well as nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Toni Gayle.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No formal services are planned at this time. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
