Roger Eugene Knuffman
Roger Eugene Knuffman, age 83, of Quincy, died on October 24, 2025, at Blessing Hospital.
He was born on August 18, 1942, in Quincy, IL, the son of Irene (Welsh) and Harry Knuffman. Roger was a graduate of St. Rose Grade School and Christian Brothers High School (1960). He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962-1968, including during the Vietnam War.
He married the love of his life, Phyllis Huseman, on February 8, 1969, at St. Peter Catholic Church. They celebrated 56 years of marriage this year.
Roger was a computer programmer analyst for Moorman Manufacturing for 27 years. Later in life, he earned his associate’s degree from John Wood Community College. He also worked for Electronic Data Systems and Prince Agri Products.
Roger was a wonderful father to his three children: Chris Knuffman (Alice) of Daphne, AL, Susan Lustig of Overland Park, KS, and Julie Huber (Shannon) of Normal, IL. One of his favorite roles was as Grandpa to his three grandchildren, Sof Lustig, Noah Huber, and Ben Huber. He loved to attend family gatherings and travel. Roger could always make people laugh with a joke or story.
Roger was a devout member of St. Francis Solanus Church and served in the Holy Name Society and as a Eucharistic minister. He also volunteered in the food pantry and other areas. He was also active in the Marine Corps League, including many years as a Toys for Tots volunteer.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray Knuffman.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted at the cemetery by the Marine Corps Funeral Honor Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Solanus School. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
