Mary S. Welte, age 68, of Ewing, MO, died on Sunday, October 19, 2025 in Blessing Hospital. Mary was born on May 13, 1957 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin ‘Bud’ and Alma (Vandenboom) Reckers. She married James ‘Jim’ Welte in Alton, Il on August 1, 1987. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2025.

Mary worked as a machinist over the years.

She is survived by her children:
Rita Stephens of Ewing, MO: Roger (Karen) Stephens of Loraine, IL; Joe (Dawn) Stephens, also of Ewing.
Grandchildren: B.J. Schmidt of Alton, IL Jake Stephens of O’Fallon, MO; Noah and Fred Gardner of Eaton, OH; and Amber (Delano Bartlett, Sr.) Stephens of Godfrey, IL and Denver Welte of Alton, IL.
Two great grandchildren, Delano Bartlett, Jr. and Rose Bartlett.
Siblings: Donny Reckers (Carolyn), Joan Silman, Bobby Reckers, Tommy Reckers (Pam), Jerry Reckers (Julie), Sharon Brandon (Bill).
Sister in law: Joyce Reckers
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ed Reckers and Ruth Leckbee and Brother and sister in law: Jim Silman, Mary Reckers

Cremation rights will be accorded. Arrangements for cremation are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
