Richard L. “Dick” Wand
Richard L. “Dick” Wand age 83, of Quincy, Il died on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 7:20 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home. He was born in Quincy on February 26, 1942, the son of Walter and Rose (Lubbe) Wand. He married Sandra K. (Dietrich) Lenz on July 4, 1998, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and she survives. Dick was a lifelong farmer, and a machinist at Gardner Denver. He retired in 1997.
He was a graduate of St. Anthony Grade School and a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame High School. After high school, Dick served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society at the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dick was a gentle giant, a faithful and loving man.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting pheasant, rabbits, and squirrels, he also liked shooting trap. He had participated in league bowling for many years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two stepchildren: Jeff (Tina) Lenz of Quincy; and Penny (Wayne) Whittaker of Plainville, IL. Two sisters: Sister Jane Wand, S.S.N.D. of Quincy; and Eileen Healy of Queensbury, N.Y.
Grandchildren: Kassidy (Cole) Phillips; Kallie (Jacob) Presser; Conner (Fiancée Emma) Lenz; and Evan Lenz. A great grandson: Elliott Phillips; a niece Alison (Brett) Abbey; and nephew Ryan (Maggie) Donohue. Great nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Tom Wand, a sister Judy Wand, a niece Kelly Mulholland, and a brother-in-law James Healy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Church. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Notre Dame High School or St. Dominic Grade School. Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.

but I am keepimg all of you in my prayers. I love the caption saying Dick was a “gentle giant”. I haven’t seen him
in a long time, but he was always so friendly and interested in what others had to say. God Bless
