Kent J. Mast

Kent J. Mast age 57, of Liberty Illinois died on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Blessing Hospital. Kent was the son of James A. and Louise R. (Derhake) Mast. He married Monica A. Klingele on October 17, 1992, in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and she survives.

Kent was currently a truck driver for Diamond Construction Company and for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He previously was employed at Miracle Supply Company and with Brinkman Plumbing Co. for several years as a licensed plumber.

He had attended Quincy Notre Dame High School and graduated from Barry High School in 1986. Kent was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. His other memberships included the Knights of Columbus Council #583 and the Plumber’s Union.

His favorite activities included driving his side-by-side alongside his dog “Wrigley” (Kent was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan). He liked gardening, and growing produce, that he generously gave away to his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking on his grill, especially smoking and barbecuing meat. For many years Kent played slow pitch softball and liked playing golf with friends.

In addition to his wife, Monica, survivors include their two sons:
Austin (Sydney) Mast of Quincy, IL and Dylan Mast of Liberty, IL.

His brothers and sisters: Alan (Sharon) Mast of Springfield IL; Bill (Carol) Mast of Quincy, IL; Ronnie (Joyce) Mast; Cathy (Joe) Hollensteiner all of Quincy; IL; Mel (Debbie) Mast of Sherman, IL; Tony (Donna) Mast of Springfield, IL; and Sue Meyers of Springfield, MO and his sister-in-law, Sue Mast of Quincy.

His father-in-law Merle (JoAnne) Klingele of Liberty, IL.

Brothers and sisters-in-law: Steve (Joyce) Klingele of Liberty, IL; Dennis (Stephanie) Klingele of Conifer, CO; Dewayne (Kris) Klingele of Quincy, IL; Theresa (Bill) Wackerman of Chugiak, Alaska; Gary (Shelly) Klingele, Keith (Jamie) Klingele and Phil (Heidi) Klingele all of Liberty, IL. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Patricia, Klingele, and a brother, Terry Mast.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to: Quincy Medical Group Cancer Institute, Knights of Columbus Council # 583 or St. Anthony Catholic Church. Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
