Jeff retired after 35 years with Knapheide Manufacturing Company where he worked as a welder and forklift driver. His career included Prince Manufacturing, semi-truck driver, and for Burlington Northern Railroad. As a teenager he worked on the grounds crew at Spring Lake Country Club. In his youth, Jeff was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, played little league baseball, and flew small RC airplanes with a handheld radio transmitter from the ground with his father and brother taking turns. He enjoyed ice skating, swimming, boating and fishing. He was introduced to his lifelong love of boating and fishing by his father and older brother. Early in his adult work life he purchased a new bass boat and later purchased the boat of his dreams, a boat previously owned by the Army Corp of Engineers. Jeff enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the country, hunting, camping, swimming, fishing, and boating as well as riding his electric bike, motorcycle, going to antique shops, thrift shops, and yard sales, flower gardening and growing tomatoes, collecting stamps and antiques. Jeff was an accomplished cook. He cooked a full dinner every evening after work. Jeff kept up with the news and enjoyed discussing current topics involving business, politics, or sports. Jeff enjoyed watching meteor showers. He loved socializing, being on the computer and talking on the phone to friends. He enjoyed going out to eat at different restaurants in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri on the weekend, going to the movie theaters and traveling. Jeff had hoped to spend his time in retirement fishing, boating, traveling and visiting his beloved cousins in Arkansas. Jeff had been on nightly kidney dialysis for the last ten years after he was diagnosed with kidney failure. He continued to work at Knapheide’s until his retirement in the summer of 2023. Most of all, Jeff loved his fur babies. After Jeff’s passing, his two living dogs were adopted out to good homes, Duffy was adopted by a dear friend and Buster was adopted by a police officer. Please make memorials to the Quincy Humane Society or to any organization that cares for animals. Jeff accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Jeff prayed the Prayer of Salvation. “Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”
