John Shoop

John Shoop, age 79, of Mendon, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 in his home. He was born on February 12, 1946 in Quincy, IL the son of Vernie and Pauline (Zanger) Shoop. He married Juanita Smith on December 15, 1967 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Shoop was a truck driver.

John was a motorcycle guy, bringing one of the first choppers to the area from California. Loved his Harleys.

IN addition to his wife, John is also survived by:
ONE DAUGHTER: Misstia Riggs (Daniel) of Quincy
TWO GRANDSONS: Trevin Shoop (Tiffany Seirens) and Travis Shoop
TWO BROTHERS: Jim Shoop and Jody Shoop (Bobette)
Also surviving is Monica McCabe who John loved like a daughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sue Dunivin, and brothers Jerry Shoop and Tom Shoop.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Sorry for your loss. We only met him a few times, but my kids and I thought a lot of him. Wish we could’ve seen more of him.
