Annette L. “Ann” Goehl

Annette L. “Ann” Goehl age 88, of 3811 Pine Ridge Drive, Quincy, IL died on Saturday, July 19th at 9:29am at Blessing Hospital.

She was born on September 14, 1936 in Elmhurst Illinois. Daughter of William and Evangeline (Bellerive) Ashdown. She went to Quincy College where she met her husband Russell. She was a member of the Cheerleading Squad and was involved in a Sorority. They were married on June 22, 1957 in Elmhurst, IL. Russ proceeded her in death on August 13, 2017.

Ann was an ideal mom that had a passion for life and touched many people with her gift of arts and crafts. Her eye for design and attention to detail was always perfect. She loved decorating her home for all seasons and looked forward to April Fool’s Day most of all.

For many years she was a dedicated homemaker raising her daughters. She was a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed taking her girls camping, even though her greatest fear was snakes. Later in life she ventured out to work at The Green Turtle Gift Store. She enjoyed traveling the 50 states, countries of Europe, cruises and Caribbean islands. With some of her favorite travel memories being made with Dave and Jo Walker. She loved her family unconditionally. She treated her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as though each were her favorite.

Ann was very active in the Catholic Church and the community. She was involved with the Ladies of St. Anthony’s, Merry Widowers and meeting with the “Sisters” were her favorites. She loved Playing cards, shopping and happy hours.

Annette is survived by her four DAUGHTERS: Teresa “Terry” Spencer (Jim) of Quincy; Kathleen “Kathie” Nunn (Leroy) of St. Clair, MO; Mary Jo White (Scott) of Queen Creek, AZ; and Kelly Lahr (Bob) of LaGrange, MO. GRANDCHILDREN: Adam Whitney (Stephanie); Amber Becks (Dustin); Audrey Huhnke (Jacob); Bobby Spencer; Amanda Malone (Seth); Kristin Arnold (Casey); Justin Nunn (Tia); Chad White (Katie); Britani Dickinson (Robert); Broc White (Sal); Brandon Lahr (Diane); Drew Lahr (Sara); Blake Lahr (Lindsey) and Shelby Price (Storm). 23 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, BROTHER William Ashdown of Downers Grove IL and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Nikki White, and sister Beatrice Plass.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 9:15 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00am in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials to be made to St. Jude or to Quincy Notre Dame Foundation for a scholarship to be established in Ann’s memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Our heart goes out to your family. Larry and I became very close to your mother in the last few years. She was a very special person. We wish we could be with you to help celebrate your mother’s life. We are out of town with our family. We will miss her!!!
