Annette Marie Moore was born in Quincy, IL on July 12, 1963, the sixth child of Edgar Roy and Norma Jean (Goodwin) Moore. She passed away at the age of 61 on May 30, 2025 in Pittsfield, IL.

As a person with Down Syndrome, Annette had a unique way of touching the hearts of everyone she met throughout her life. Growing up as the youngest and later-in-life child, she was doted upon by the older kids, and grew up more or less with her first three nephews. As time went on, she became the proud aunt of her many nieces and nephews. As a child, Annette attended Cheerful Home and completed her education at Quincy Junior High School Special Education Department in 1984. She was a lifelong Catholic and attended St. Mary and St. Peter Catholic Churches. As a member of the ARC Program, Annette and her parents spent many years actively involved with other “special needs” families. That group of lifelong friends participated in Special Olympics, weekly bowling and annual dances just to name a few. She attended Transitions of Western IL and worked also at a workshop making rag rugs on a loom for several years.

Annette loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the QHS Blue Devils and QND Raiders. As a young adult she enjoyed boot kicking with a great group of people. Country music was her favorite. She enjoyed many favorite T.V. shows, especially Little House on the Prairie and for many years she was obsessed with the Ellen DeGeneres Show. She loved her childhood dogs MoMo and Scooter, and her cat, Missy. Her most recent favorite was all things Mickey Mouse. Annette, or “Netta” for short, would cautiously “size up” a person when first meeting them, and you knew you were “in” when she referred to you as “Buddy”. She had a big heart, loved fiercely, and could be fiercely stubborn at times. In spite of this she managed to be loved by many throughout her life.

Growing up, Annette was blessed with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who showered her with attention. When she grew up to be “Aunt Netta”. She was loved by her nieces and nephews and their children for all her antics and unique ways of saying things.

In her later years, she joined a “family of friends” and dedicated caregivers at Maple Terrace Group Home. She learned some independent skills, participated in fun activities and even went to see a Cardinals game. In 2021 after a hospital stay and with no rehab openings in a Quincy facility, she ended up at Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL. While recuperating there she connected with a staff of caregivers with big hearts who embraced her for who she was. She made up her mind that she was going to live there permanently and was able to realize her first completely independent decision. She loved playing Bingo and the staff there accommodated her love for all things Mickey Mouse. Her 60th birthday was a Mickey Mouse Bash. We are grateful for the love, fun and care she received from her “Eastside Family.”

Annette was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special nephew, Eddie Mayfield.

She is survived by her siblings and their spouses: Alan and Carol Moore; Roger and Chris Moore; Larry and Mary (Ingram) Moore; Nancy and Lavern Mayfield; Kevin and Kathy Moore. Nephews and Nieces: Alan Moore, Christopher Moore, Laurie Cobern, Kerry Lee, Michael Moore, Amanda Smith, Larry Moore; Beth Krueger, and Terry Moore. Many great nieces and nephews also survive. She is also survived by her Aunt Edith and Aunt Annette Nall who was her Godmother.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for Masses in Annette’s memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
