Robert “Bill” Markword Sr.
Robert “Bill” Markword Sr., age 76, of Quincy, died on Friday, May 16, 2025 in the Quincy Healthcare and Senior Living. Bill was born on August 21, 1948 in Quincy, IL at St. Mary’s Hospital, the son of Harold and Lucille (Henriques) Markword. Bill graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1966.
Bill enlisted in the Navy and served from June 1966 until February 1972. During his time in the Navy, he served in the Vietnam War from October 1967 until November 1968.
After his time in the service, Bill was employed as a welder for 41 years before his retirement.
One of Bill’s favorite pastimes was watching baseball, but especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was especially talented at woodworking. He enjoyed hunting and tinkering or “fixing” things around the house and garage.
Bill is survived by his children: Heather (Jeff) Wilson of Cummings, GA; Stacie (Bill) Chase of Anoke, MN; Denetta (Mike) Eager of Oakland, TN; Robert (Amanda) Markword of Quincy. His grandchildren: Cruz Wise and Christian Wise.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 Noon at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. There is no funeral service, but Military Services will held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Such a great friend to my family and God father to my Daughter that was born on his Birthday. He was a good friend to my Husband. I hope he was waiting for Bill at the gates in Heaven. I will miss you so much 💓 xoxo
