Charles K. Polley
Charles K. Polley II, age 84, of Quincy was called home to Heaven on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 12:25 a.m. peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He was born on February 12, 1941 in Griggsville, IL the son of Charles and Freda (Moore) Polley. He married the love of his life Sandra Hoffman on September 14, 1964. She survives. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Chuck served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963, proudly being a part of the twenty-fourth infantry division stationed in Hamburg, Germany. During his service, he had the privilege of driving a Jeep for the esteemed General Edwin J. Walker.
More than 36 years, Chuck worked as a postal clerk in the Quincy area, where he became a trusted and familiar face in the community. He was known for his kindness, dedication, and the friendships he made with everyone he met.
Chuck was a longtime member of Life Point Church, where he found spiritual comfort and fellowship. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and attending classic car shows. In addition, he loved playing cards, farkle, travelling, and visiting military history museums. A passionate sports fan, Chuck was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers supporter, watching every game he could.
He had a deep love for his dog Meko and Chrissy, who brought him much joy over the years. Chucks warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Charles Polley III (Robin), Dana Dexter (Robert), Terra Oenning (Jason), Michael Polley (Kym) and Kevin Polley (Jami).
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister: Karol Mohrman (Richard) and other relatives survive.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, grandson: Cherokee Bryce Polley and a sister: Dorothy Dixon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Life Point Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Inurnment will take place in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail and the United States Army Honor Detail. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Life Point Church or a charity of your choice in Chuck’s memory.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

I was blessed and honored to meet and care for Chuck. His sweet smile was genuine, kind and welcoming. I am grateful to have met such a wonderful man. I still wear my little Jesus on my badge everyday. I cannot help but smile every time I look at it because it reminds me of Chuck. I will always remember you dear friend, but I am still not rooting for the Steelers.

Polley family – my family lived in the upstairs apartment when Chuck and his family lived downstairs, in the 50s. We were great friends; I was five months older and we hung out together quite a bit. Over the years, I was happy to run into him several times when I was back in Quincy. He was a good friend, a fine man and a blessing to all who knew him. Ken Brickman, Des Moines.
