Phillip F. Moore, Sr.

Phillip F. Moore, Sr., age 82, of Quincy died on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in his home.
He was born September 12, 1942 in Quincy, the son of Alfred and Gail (Gray) Moore. He married Betty Ann Cooper on January 14, 1964 in Minneapolis, MN. She survives.

He is survived by his children, Phillip Moore, Jr. of Bellview, Kay Lynn (Scott) Swanson of Burlington, IA and Melissa (Darin) Johnson of Fort Madison, IA; seven grandchildren, Shaun, Stephanie, Zachary and Victoria Moore, Adam and Stephen Swanson (Emma), and Jason Johnson; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia Brunier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judith Ann Moore; grandson, Bret Moore; brother, Michael Moore; and half-brother, Ross Lippincott, Jr.

Mr. Moore was employed by Des Moines County as a draftsman, retiring in 2007. Mr. Moore had been in the United States Navy. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Quincy. Mr. Moore enjoyed outdoor activities including camping, hunting and fishing. He also loved to the regional car races, reading and bowling. His true joy was the time he spent with his family and his loving wife of 61 years.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of the services at noon. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Humane Society or to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
